LUSAKA - MFUWE - S. LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK - MFUWE - LUSAKA
8 Days
* Lodge Safari

Day 1: Lusaka-South Luangwa - Kapani Safari Lodge
Fly from Lusaka to Mfuwe. On arrival at Mfuwe Airport, you are met and transferred to Kapani Safari Lodge. With its tall trees, stone rooms, high ceilings and spacious bedrooms, there is a distinctly "Out of Africa" feel about Kapani which is enhanced by the oxbow lake in front of the camp. Wallowing hippo, grazing puku and the antics of aquatic birds will keep you entertained until it is time to go out on a game drive. The South Luangwa National Park is renowned for its unspoiled beauty and rich concentrations of game and birdlife and the area around Kapani is no exception. After dinner, which is taken in the open, on a dining platform overlooking the lagoon, a night drive will introduce you to the nocturnal world and a chance of viewing leopard. Overnight Kapani Safari Lodge in a twin bedded chalet with en suite facilities on a full board basis and afternoon activity.

Days 2 & 3: South Luangwa -Luwi Bush Camp
On Day 2 after an early morning game drive followed by breakfast, you will drive to Luwi, situated in a remote area of the park. Luwi Bush Camp is a wonderfully rustic camp of individually designed thatched bamboo huts set in a beautifully shaded grove of mahogany trees on the banks of the Luwi sand river. An evening walk from Luwi usually ends with sundowners overlooking the permanent lagoon adjacent to camp, which is home to the park's largest population of hippo to be found away from the main river. Dinner is taken under the trees and a myriad of stars accompanied by an enchanting array of night calls. Overnight Luwi Bush Camp in a twin bedded hut with en suite facilities on a full board basis including drinks.

Days 4 & 5:South Luangwa - Luwi Bush Camp
On Day 4, in the cool hours of the early morning, set off for Nsolo Bush Camp. The walking time may vary between two and four hours depending on what you see. Set under a beautiful grove of trees, the camp's rooms have been built on raised wooden decks with a roof of canvas and grass walls. The open front provides a spectacular view. There is a waterhole in front of the camp, which attracts a lot of game. Later this afternoon walk in the vicinity of the camp. As the sun begins to go down, return to camp for sundowners and a well-earned dinner. Overnight Nsolo Bush Camp in a twin bedded room with en suite facilities on a full board basis including drinks.

Days 6 & 7: South Luangwa - Kakuli Bush Camp
On Day 6, early morning tea is taken around the coals of the campfire before continuing on the trail down the Luwi towards the Luangwa River and Kakuli Bush Camp, arriving in time for brunch. The camp is set on an elevated stretch of riverbank overlooking a wide grazing lawn that reaches along the Luangwa and forms the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa rivers. Kakuli is a traditional tented camp with en suite open-air facilities. In the afternoon, one may take another walk along the river, or a game drive lasting until after dark, in the hope of finding one of the many leopards that are concentrated in the riverine belt. Overnight in a twin bedded tent with en suite facilities on a full board basis with drinks.

Day 8: Lusaka
After breakfast, a leisurely game drive through the park will bring you to Mfuwe Airport where you catch your flight back to Lusaka and onward connection.
