Best of Zambia| Walking and Road Safari

13 Days

Days 1 & 2: Lusaka - South Luangwa National Park
Arrive at Lusaka International Airport, Zambia where you are and helped aboard your domestic flight to Mfuwe. This hour flight will take you into the Luangwa Valley where you will begin the walking & road camping safari. This National Park used to be known as "Elephant Valley." Elephants will be ever present throughout your stay, but the South Luangwa is probably the best for watching leopards in their natural environs.
On Day 2, step out in early morning hours and enjoy a light breakfast around the camp-fire watching the sun rise over the lagoon. Breakfast is followed by a morning game-drive in an open four-wheel drive vehicle, after which a brunch is served. Relax during the hottest hours of the day before the excitement of the afternoon/night safari. Dinner is served in various locations after your safari under a star studded sky. Overnights at Kapani Lodge on full board basis.

Days 3 to 7: South Luangwa  NP/walking safari
On the morning of Day 3, you will be driven deep into the National Park to Luwi Bush Camp, a wonderfully rustic camp set in the deep shade of large trees close to a permanent lagoon that is home to a large population of hippo and even more crocodile. On arrival your guide will introduce you to the armed escort scout who will lead you on your first walking safari. Your guide will take time to point out the tracks and signs that he uses to interpret the bush. This is no nature trail, this is the real thing, you are tracking big game through the African bush, on foot! Two overnights at Luwi Bush Camp on full board basis.
On Day 5 you will head out from camp as you did on the previous day but this time your guide will walk you down the Luwi river course. Your destination is Nsolo, your second bush camp, where you will spend the next two nights. Upon arrival, a cool drink will be ready for you and brunch will be served.  An afternoon game activity follows. Overnights at Nsolo Bush Camp on full board basis.
On the morning of Day 7, the safari continues as you walk further down the Luwi River, to its confluence with the main Luangwa and to Kakuli Camp. This camp is tented and has stunning views along a stretch of the Luangwa that is home to hundreds of hippos.
Most of the game viewing will still be on foot but vehicles can be used in these parts and the abundant population of leopards in the area makes the night game drives most rewarding. Overnight at Kakuli Camp on full board basis.

Days 8 & 9: Livingstone
On the morning of Day 8, after breakfast, you will be taken to Mfuwe for your flight to Livingstone/Victoria Falls where you will be met and transferred to Tongabezi Lodge. The Lodge is set on a magnificent bend in the Zambezi River some twenty kilometers upstream from the Victoria Falls. Spend two nights in the area. There are many activities on offer: an up-close view of the Falls is a must, and there are plenty of adrenalin-filled options as well.  Overnights at Tongabezi Lodge on full board basis.

Days 10 to 12: Lower Zambezi National Park
On the morning of Day 10, transfer  to the Lower Zambezi National Park to your choice of camp. The game viewing in the Lower Zambezi is surpassed only by the beauty of the views. Each tented camp is set right on the bank of the Zambezi River. There are varied experiences to be had such as morning and afternoon drives or walks but also boat rides.  Whether it is on a sunset drift or a more adventurous canoe ride along one of the many channels frequented by hippo and elephant, the Lower Zambezi has plenty to offer is the perfect place to end an exciting safari. Overnights at either Chiawa, Chongwe or Sausage Tree Camps on full board basis.

Day 13: Departure
>Your flight from the Lower Zambezi is early this morning so that you can reach  Lusaka in time for your onward flight out.
